Tinubu Commends Argungu Fishing Festival, Assures Farmers and Fishermen of Improved Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the significance of the Argungu International Fishing Festival, describing it as a symbol of unity, resilience, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

The President made the remarks while attending the 61st edition of the festival held in Argungu, Kebbi State. He noted that the festival, which has been celebrated for over 80 years, reflects Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the spirit of harmony among its diverse communities.

Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting farmers and fishermen across the country. He assured them of improved security to enable them carry out their activities without fear.

According to him, the progress recorded in enhancing security in parts of the country, including Kebbi State, is the result of collaboration between the Federal Government, state governments, and local communities.

The President also reiterated his administration’s determination to tackle terrorism and banditry, stressing that restoring peace to farming communities is essential to ensuring food security nationwide.

The Argungu festival is one of Africa’s largest cultural events, attracting thousands of fishermen who compete to catch the biggest fish, alongside other cultural displays that promote tourism and boost the local economy.
