Israel Launches Strike Near Lebanon–Syria Border, Four Killed.

Israeli forces have carried out an aerial strike near the Lebanon–Syria border, killing at least four people, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health and state media.

The attack reportedly targeted a vehicle in eastern Lebanon, close to the Syrian border. The strike occurred despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, which was intended to reduce hostilities between Israel and armed groups operating in Lebanon, including Hezbollah.

In a statement, Israel said the operation was aimed at members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an armed group allied with Hezbollah. Lebanese authorities, however, said the strike highlights continued violations of the ceasefire and rising tensions along the border region.

Security analysts warn that the incident underscores ongoing instability along Israel’s northern frontier and southern Lebanon, despite international efforts to maintain calm and prevent further escalation.

The report was published by Al Jazeera, which noted growing concerns over the risk of renewed violence if ceasefire commitments are not fully observed.
