Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Geneva to commence the second round of nuclear negotiations with United States representatives, aiming to resolve the long-standing dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program.
The talks are being conducted indirectly, with Oman acting as mediator, following the initial round held in Muscat, which both sides described as a “good start” but failed to produce a concrete agreement.
Key objectives of the negotiations include:
Limiting Iran’s nuclear activities, which the US demands, while Tehran maintains its program is for peaceful purposes.
Sanctions relief for Iran, which remains its top priority, alongside strict monitoring and inspection mechanisms sought by the US.
Diplomacy experts note that the outcome of these talks could significantly affect regional security in the Middle East and global non-proliferation efforts. While both sides are balancing negotiation with deterrence, success or failure may reshape the international political landscape.
