The Chairman of Koko‑Besse Local Government Area, Sirajo Usman Dan Gwaggo, has provided support to 75 persons living with disabilities by donating wheelchairs and cash assistance to help improve their livelihoods.
The distribution took place at the Koko-Besse LG Secretariat in Kebbi State, where each beneficiary received a wheelchair and ₦5,000 to enable them to start small businesses or engage in income-generating activities.
Dan Gwaggo said the initiative was aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring they are not left behind in governance and development efforts at the grassroots level.
A representative of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre commended the council chairman for the humanitarian gesture, noting that collaboration between local governments and non-governmental organisations plays a key role in enhancing inclusion and improving the welfare of persons with disabilities.
