An 18-year-old woman, Khadija Jamilu, has allegedly stabbed her 25-year-old husband in the genitals during a domestic dispute in Potiskum, Yobe State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, February 6, 2026. Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.
“The suspect, Khadija Jamilu, an 18-year-old female from Potiskum Local Government Area, allegedly attacked her husband using a knife, inflicting a deep cut on his genital organ.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare, Bauchi State for emergency treatment,” DSP Abdulkarim said in a statement on Saturday.
Authorities have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect while investigations into the case continue.
The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Emmanuel Ado, urged couples to maintain peaceful and respectful relationships, emphasizing that marriage should be founded on mutual respect, patience, and understanding.
He added, “Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation.
Couples and intending spouses should seek proper counselling before and during marriage, embrace peaceful dialogue and anger management during conflicts, involve parents, guardians, religious leaders, or trusted mediators when misunderstandings escalate, and avoid resolving marital disputes through violence, as it often leads to irreversible consequences.”
