In a major humanitarian effort, the Jigawa State Government will establish 640 food centers across the state to provide free iftar meals during Ramadan.
The initiative, approved by Governor Umar Namadi at a State Executive Council meeting, will see the centers placed in schools, correctional facilities, and community support institutions. Dr. Nura Kazaure, the State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, said the program will deliver over 23.8 million meals to approximately 7.9 million beneficiaries, with 264,600 food packages handed out daily.
The scheme is designed to ease poverty, support low-income households, and foster community unity during the holy month. Oversight committees at all administrative levels will ensure the program runs smoothly.
